Meet Eleanora! Recently, I have been a bit obsessed with this endearing soul. I met her on an art trip to Port Townsend, when I visited the very impressive Marine Science Center, doing wonderful work in environmental conservation. My scientist husband bought me a great book, Other Minds by Peter Godfrey-Smith, (this book has a chapter called Mischief and Craft). I have learned how smart, yet playful, octopuses can be. It really is fascinating. "In captivity they have been known to identify individual human keepers, raid neighboring tanks for food, turn off lightbulbs by spouting jets of water, plug drains, and make daring escapes." (For more details, please click anything underlined here). You can view a few other paintings of Eleanora and more of my work at the upcoming Library Art Show on Bainbridge Island. Opening reception is Friday June 7th from 5-7 pm. I truly enjoy the connections I make through art. Thank you for your support.
