11 x 14 This painting was done from a two year old photo, Patches running through the field in Walla Walla, where our daughter goes to college. Patches is 18 years old and, on good days, still hops along like this on her walks. Granted, some days she moves like a rickety wagon and needs help down the stairs. I did this painting in one setting-quick and loose, alla prima, and felt like it really captured her joy. Our instructor once told us when painting a facial expression, make it with your own face while painting the subject. So I made that happy face--painted away--and there was the joy in Patches! Voila! (Little Miss Mabel is not far behind). Thanks for your interest and support.
