11 x 14 This colorful snow scene was painted from a small news clipping depicting the labor and the beauty of winter. The finished work demonstrates what I describe as my method of "painting out loud". Just like "thinking out loud" I tend to put dabs of color down, contemplate how it looks, how it reads next to the existing colors. Should it be a "warm" red or a "cool" blue? Or a "cool" pink--or "warm" lavender? Yes all those variations are in there--some dabs get painted over, others left behind. The process can be tedious and unsettling, but when it starts to "sing" and there is harmony--I am pleased.
